Website Migration
-
Q: What precisely does website migration mean and what does it include?
A: If your current hosting provider can no longer fulfill the necessities of your site, or if you experience frequent network downtime, or if you have to wait for hours for the support team to respond back to you, it may be a good idea to change your provider, i.e. to move all the files for your websites along with your databases from your present provider to your new provider. At WebDisCode, we realize that this can be hard and time–consuming. This is why we’ll accomplish all that for you at no cost! Our highly knowledgeable technical team reps will transfer your site content from your present provider to us. Our techs have broad experience migrating websites and are able to take care of anything – from an ordinary WordPress–powered weblog or Joomla™–driven website, to a highly elaborate, custom–built app.
-
Q: How long will it take for my site to be migrated over to your platform?
A: There are lots of aspects to bear in mind – the total amount of web files, the physical size of the database, the complexity of the site itself and the current workload of our website migration experts, etc. Still, we do our best to carry out all website migrations within a 48–hour time window. Less sizeable web sites are migrated faster – typically in less than 24 hours.
-
Q: Do you require anything from me before you start moving my web site?
A: We do not need any personal details. We’ll need, though, the login information for your present hosting account along with the name of the site that you wish to move.
-
Q: The login details for my hosting account are sensitive. How can I trust you?
A: Our Privacy Policy is an inseparable part of the agreement that we’ll have with you as a customer. We are devoted to protecting the safety of the personal info collected from the customers. To achieve that, we use technical safety measures to avoid the loss, the misappropriation, the alteration or the illegal leak of the private data under our control. The security measures include, but are not limited to: physical, electronic and managerial operations to safeguard and secure the information that we gather on the Internet. When we request users to supply financial information (for instance, a credit card number), this info is shielded using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption method.
-
Q: Will my web site be offline during the migration?
A: Your web site will continue to work exactly like it did before with your previous hosting provider. Once we are done with the migration, your website will be configured to work on our system and we will alert you to preview it. If it is working properly, all you will have to do is update the NS resource records pertaining to your domain. Your web site will be transferred over to us without any downtime whatsoever.
-
Q: Will my current hosting provider know that I am leaving them?
A: Nah. We’ll never touch base with your hosting provider about anything at all. They won’t be aware of the website transfer either.
-
Q: Which web hosting providers can you migrate web content from?
A: Yeah. We support all common Linux–based web hosting platforms. We don’t support Windows–driven web hosting platforms, since we do not provide Windows web hosting services ourselves. In addition, we don’t support proprietary website building and management interfaces such as Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square, Mr Site, etc.
